A Question for my watchers

Journal Entry: Mon Oct 19, 2009, 1:25 AM

and more...

So many of you have asked in the past what motivates me to make my stock, and I have had several very in depth conversations with Deviants and even written a journal entry on the subject, and now a question for you, my watchers - what motivates you to create art? Is it a passion, a job, a educational course... and what inspires you?

These questions are not aimed exclusively at art you may have created using my stock, but at your entire DA profile's worth of creations. Also if you want to post a link/s to a piece you feel typifies/best expresses your artistic vision then please go right ahead, I promise to look at any images you post links to and give you an honest opinion :D

I hope this provokes some interesting discussion between you

I make art for the same reason you breathe air.

I draw and write and manipulate all so that I can express what I feel. It's a coping mechanism of sorts. :) It makes me feel happy while I do it and I get a high from it.

I took that sexually.

I have always wanted to be an artist. Particularly a fantasy artist when I was younger, but circumstance hit that I did not. One day about 4 years ago or so my wife told me take an art course on portraits thinking I would enjoy it and I did. As I started to learn something happened inside that I can't explain, and I began to study the human form. I loved the beauty that I saw especially in the female form in media. I was hooked. I can't think about anything in my life that I just simply love to in spare time and I create spare time. If you would like to read more about me I have created a simple site: [link] ... if you want to read more why I do art. Its not your normal about me. You could also navigate around and see some of the pics I don't put out on deviantart if you are interested. Remember I don't get a lot of time doing art, so I feel like I am pretty much a beginner, but I hope to continue to work until they plant me in the ground.

Sorry for the long comment.

Its my life, I don't want to change the world, I just want to make it better than I could ever dream or hope for

Depends on what I am working on. If its for myself, I think I can create what I think is cool better then anyone else can, and hey if someone else likes it, power to them. I write, draw, animate, whatever, for the sole purpose of self gratification.

If its a gift, then its all about the other person's surprise and happiness. Which again boils down to self gratification. Like when you give a homeless person a $20.00 bill, a McDonalds Big Mac and a smile. Sure you do it for them, and for yourself. Its a nice feeling giving to someone else.

"If only Christmas wasn't once a year."

Ideas sometimes come from songs, like this one here: [link] came from a song I like by In Flames, here: [link] Using music is a bad thing I might add, cos some of you is paying attention to what you are hearing, distracting you from the work at hand. Even if it is only 5% of your brain power, still means you are not doing as well as you could be doing.

Its a sacrifice I make, and find myself wrestling with quite often.

I've rambled on long enough I think. Great topic!

What inspires me?

One of the reasons you wouldnt understand.

The others are coz:

Doing my kind of art is expression of all the feelings, thoughts, emotions, desires and colurs in my heart and mind.

I want to move people. And in so doing I attain satisfaction. I want to entertain you, provoke you, insult you, ridicule you, laugh at/with you, make you sad, sombre, I want to hurt you, I want to make you cry, I want to make you laugh out loud, I want to make you comfortable, I want to move you...

Its sexy.

I would like to be able to support myself financially off art. i would like to do it as a job and get paid for it.

Real beauty comes from within, a treasure for those that can see it.

Personally, I need to be creative and have always wanted to do something with the nude form. Not just an artistic nude photograph, but, be much more creative in the process.

So initially, I tried similar efforts of art that I've done with your photographs with my own nude photographs. I wasn't pleased with the effort, so I wanted to try with someone else's photography. So thank you for modeling and taking the photographs.

Photography is fun for me, i like editing and taking photos, but about inspration and motivation, mostly i like edit photos which i took or people i know. And mostly about knowledge, if i learn a new technique, i'm trying to do something with it. We're at 21th centuary and time is not enough to do everything. If i spend my time for photography, i don't have time to watch tv series :P
